According to the report, the family was recently informed that Sun suddenly lost consciousness in prison. ChinaAid states that local authorities and judicial agencies had not issued a further public response about his health as of publication.
ChinaAid reports that Sun was detained in December 2023 on suspicion of “organizing illegal crossings” after a 2023 religious-exchange trip to South Korea, and that a Zhangye court sentenced him in November 2025 to four years and six months in prison plus a 10,000-yuan fine.
