Li Yumin (李郁民) was one of five defendants in the 1990 Chenzhou case concerning the organization described in the court judgment as the “Democratic China Front — Mountain Branch” (民主中国阵线山地支部).
Primary-source case record
The Chenzhou Prefecture Intermediate People’s Court criminal judgment (1990) 郴一初字第88号, issued November 7, 1990, convicted five defendants of the crime of forming a counterrevolutionary clique (反革命集团罪). The judgment describes the group as drafting a program, assigning roles, recruiting members, creating an emblem, collecting dues, and distributing political leaflets.
Li Yumin was treated as a subordinate participant. The recovered judgment pages state that he received one year of imprisonment, calculated from March 4, 1990 through March 3, 1991, plus one year of deprivation of political rights. The judgment also notes leniency based on his confession.
Leaflet distribution
The recovered court record places Li Yumin among people who distributed leaflets at the Zixing Mining Bureau and four subordinate coal mines on the nights of January 14 and 17, 1990.
Evidence limitations
Pages 2–3 of the surviving judgment copy have not yet been recovered. Those missing pages are expected to contain personal details for Li Yumin, including age and occupation. Free China therefore leaves those fields unresolved. His actual release and later life are also unverified; no release is inferred merely from the sentence end date.
Identity note
Li Yumin is distinct from Li Yu (李煜), the Hengyang student in a separate 1989-related case.
