Media Profile & Archive
This archive accompanies the canonical profile of Fu Guangrong, a Zhuzhou City resident documented in Asia Watch’s reporting on repression following the 1989 democracy movement in Hunan.
Documented record
Asia Watch’s 1992 Anthems of Defeat identifies Fu as a 27-year-old unemployed youth in Zhuzhou City. It reports that authorities accused him of spreading “rumors,” directing students to “create disturbances,” and helping students hide. These are authorities’ allegations as reported by Asia Watch, not independently adjudicated facts.
Asia Watch reported that Fu was arrested after his activities were discovered and that in early 1990 the Zhuzhou City Public Security Bureau imposed three years of re-education through labor. This was administrative detention rather than a criminal-court sentence.
Evidence limits
Current status: unknown. No original administrative decision, confirmed release record, post-custody biography, or present-status evidence has been established in the material reviewed here. The nominal term should not be treated as proof of actual release.
