Media Profile & Archive — Cheng Mingjuan. This archive preserves the source chronology, provenance, and evidentiary limits of the reporting behind her Person Profile. It supports Cheng Mingjuan.

Person profile

Cheng Mingjuan — female Falun Gong practitioner, Changchun City, Jilin Province. Profile covers: the September 10, 2023 home arrest by the Lyuyuan District Police Station, the seizure of Falun Gong books and imprinted paper currency, and the confirmed four-year prison sentence; the earlier March 9, 2016 home arrest by the Changchun Domestic Security Division and Yihe Road Police Station with same-day bail release after a failed physical exam; and the August 31, 2026 roster listing.

Source chronology

  • Morning, March 9, 2016 — Minghui.org (“Additional Persecution News from China – March 21, 2016”). Cheng Mingjuan was arrested at home by officers from the Changchun City Domestic Security Division and the Yihe Road Police Station, during a roundup in which twelve practitioners were taken to detention and lockup centers. Officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and a computer. She was released on bail that same day after failing the physical examination.
  • ~7 p.m., September 10, 2023 — Minghui.org (“Changchun City, Jilin Province: Seven Falun Gong Practitioners Sentenced to Prison,” March 16, 2024). Officers of the Lyuyuan District Police Station arrested Cheng at home, raided her residence, and took several Falun Gong books and paper currency imprinted with information about Falun Gong. The report notes that practitioners print messages on money to raise awareness of the persecution amid censorship.
  • Before March 16, 2024 — same report. It was recently confirmed that Cheng had been sentenced to four years in prison. No court name, sentencing date, or detention facility was given in the report. Her case appeared alongside six other Changchun practitioners sentenced in the same reporting period.
  • August 31, 2026 — Rights Defense Network / 维权网, Issue 131 monthly report (English edition). Lists “Cheng Mingjuan” among reported current-custody cases. The report’s sentence-group placement for her entry was not confirmed from the report itself; the roster asserts only that she appears in its in-custody listing.

Source grading

  • Minghui.org reports (2016, 2024) — Falun Gong-affiliated outlet; the only sources with case detail (dates, arresting units, seized items, sentence length). Medium for dated events (arrests, raids, sentence length); the reports’ framing language is their own and is not adopted in the Person body. No independent corroboration from court records, police statements, or non-affiliated media was located.
  • Issue 131 report (English edition) — the roster source; primary for the roster equation. High for the name listing and the August 31, 2026 in-custody classification; provides no case detail beyond the listing.

Conflicts and caveats

  • The 2016 arrest account is corroborated only by the 2016 Minghui report; the 2023 sentencing only by the 2024 Minghui report. No court judgment, police record, or second outlet was located for either episode.
  • The sentencing court, the exact sentencing date, and the facility where she is serving the four-year term are all undocumented. The Person body asserts the sentence length (reported as confirmed) but no date, court, or facility.
  • The August 2026 in-custody listing is a roster classification, not evidence of her present status. Nothing is asserted about her current custody, release, whereabouts, or health.
  • The candidate is distinct from every other Cheng entry in the Issue 131 roster and must not be merged with any of them.

Evidentiary limits

No court judgment, police record, official Chinese government statement, or non-affiliated media report was located. The detailed case record rests on two Falun Gong-affiliated reports (2016 and 2024); the roster listing is the only other dated source. Her Chinese-character name, the sentencing court and date, the detention facility, and her present condition are all undocumented.
