Deng Wanying (邓万英) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. In early August 2021, the Lu County Court sentenced her to nine years in prison with a 50,000-yuan fine. She appears in the Rights Defense Network (维权网) monthly report of August 31, 2026 (Issue 131) among 1,638 reported current political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in mainland China.
Deng was arrested on August 21, 2019, along with fellow Luzhou practitioners Lei Huanying and Luo Taihui; a fourth practitioner, Gou Zhengqiong, had been arrested on August 2. All four were tried at the Lu County Court in three hearings — July 13 and September 15, 2020, and February 2, 2021. At the first hearing, families were not permitted to attend. According to Minghui.org, defense lawyers argued that none of the prosecution evidence showed what law the practitioners had violated; two lawyers demanded acquittal, but the judge refused. All four were convicted in early August 2021: Deng received nine years, Lei five years, Luo three and a half years, and Gou three years.
According to Minghui.org, the four appealed to the Luzhou City Intermediate Court, which upheld the verdicts on November 25, 2021. Deng was transferred to the Longquan Women’s Prison — the Sichuan Province Women’s Prison at Longquanyi, Chengdu. The same reporting states that Gou Zhengqiong and Luo Taihui have since been released after serving their terms.
