Dai Zhiying

Dai Zhiying is a Falun Gong practitioner from Shanghai who has been imprisoned twice, according to reporting by Minghui.org.

Minghui reports that Dai, a resident of Putuo District, began practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and was once an assistant at a People’s Park exercise site in Shanghai. On December 25, 2000, she was arrested in Shandong Province while installing loudspeakers to broadcast information about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was returned to Shanghai and sentenced to eight years in prison. Minghui reported that she was held in Songjiang Women’s Prison and released in December 2008.

In February 2010, Dai was detained again for several days and then released, according to Minghui.

On April 12, 2021, Dai was arrested at her Shanghai home by officers from the local Ganquan Police Station, who confiscated her laptop and cellphone. Minghui reported that Shanghai police handed her over that evening to police from Luoyang City, Henan Province. In 2022, Minghui reported that a Henan court sentenced her to nine and a half years in prison and fined her 40,000 yuan for posting information about Falun Gong online. The sentencing court was not identified in the sources reviewed here.

Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 roster, dated August 31, 2026, lists Dai Zhiying among reported current-custody cases. That is a dated source claim and has not been independently confirmed.
