Wang Jiwu (王继武)

Wang Jiwu (王继武) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Gongchenghao Village in Handian Town, Shuangcheng District, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. In the summer of 2023 he was taken to Hulan Prison to serve a four-and-a-half-year sentence — the outcome of his third detention in four years.

His latest arrest came on April 4, 2023, when officers from the Zhanqian Police Station seized him at the gate of his rented residential compound as he and his wife returned home from work. According to Minghui.org, police ran him through three physical examinations before admitting him to the Shuangcheng Detention Center on April 10, where he began a hunger strike. A video trial before the Shuangcheng District Court followed on May 9; a notice from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) reports that the court sentenced him on May 18 to four years and six months in prison with a 10,000-yuan fine, and that he appealed. Minghui.org reported on July 21, 2023 that he had been taken to Hulan Prison that morning.

The 2023 case was the third round of a pattern stretching back to 2019. In late October 2019, Wang was arrested for writing “Falun Dafa Is Good” on a wall. Minghui.org dates the arrest to October 25; the WOIPFG notice gives October 28. Minghui reports that while held in the Shuangcheng Detention Center he went on a seven-day hunger strike and was subjected to force-feeding. His family paid 15,000 yuan described as bail money, and he was released on probation on November 8, 2019.

On September 11, 2021, Zhanqian Police Station officers arrested him again, confiscated his car, and transferred him to the Wuchang Police Station. Minghui reported that his family was told that afternoon that he would be released if they paid 20,000 yuan, otherwise he would be sentenced to prison.

Status note: Custody details are tied to their dated sources; the July 2023 Hulan Prison transfer is the latest dated update in the preparation record. Mistreatment accounts come from Minghui.org and WOIPFG and are presented as their reporting.

A chronological archive of the reporting and documentary records is preserved in Wang Jiwu (王继武) — Media Profile & Archive.
