Media chronology
- July 9–11, 2026 — family disclosure and Taiwan/HK press. The family disclosed the detention on July 9 after the scheduled July 4 program failed to appear; 民视新闻网 (FTV, via Yahoo), 香港01, and 自由时报 (Liberty Times) reported the seizure, the July 2 detention notice, and the account closures. (zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/张内咸, compiled with citations)
- July 11, 2026 — 维权网 (Rights Defense Network). Published the family’s detention-notice account: “张鹏,1986年10月12日生,于2026年7月2日20时因涉嫌寻衅滋事罪被刑事拘留,目前羁押于北京市海淀区看守所。” (cited in the case article)
- ~July 2026 — independent China newsletter. teachernotteacher.substack.com noted the satirical YouTube talk show (49,000 subscribers) and the criminal detention for “picking quarrels and provoking trouble.” (substack item; its “July 10” framing of the seizure date differs from the family-sourced July 1)
- ~August 2026 — Human Rights in China. Reported the July 1 ~11 p.m. seizure from his Beijing home, July 2 formal detention on suspicion of 寻衅滋事罪, detention at Haidian District Detention Center, July 9 family disclosure; noted a July 1 Weibo user’s claim of having reported him, with the explicit caveat that there is no public evidence this caused the detention. (HRIC post)
- ~August 2026 — Chinese Human Rights Defenders. Flagged the seizure of “filmmaker & talk show host Zhang Peng (aka Zhang Neixian)” on July 1 and the criminal detention for “picking quarrels,” raising free-expression concerns. (CHRD post)
- August 31, 2026 — Rights Defense Network Issue 131 report. Lists 张鹏 in the detained-without-trial (羁押未判) Beijing (Tianjin) regional subgroup; the report’s alphabetical index distinguishes this entry as 张鹏(北京). (Chinese + English editions, read directly)
Source provenance and limits
- Detention date, location, charge, and detention-center details come from the family-provided detention notice as reported by named outlets. No official police statement on the detention has been located.
- Wrong-person matches excluded: two Minghui/Clearwisdom articles about Falun Gong practitioners named Zhang Peng (Shandong, labor camp 2000–2001; Hengyang, 10+2 years) are different people — wrong dates, wrong sentences, wrong provinces.
- The report’s other “Zhang Peng” entry (no Beijing qualifier, listed as sentenced to 9 years) is a different person and is documented separately.
