Zhang Tingxiang (张廷祥) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Pingba District, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, recorded as a political prisoner serving a ten-year sentence. He was seized from his home on April 21, 2019, tried in February 2021, and sentenced on October 25, 2021 by the Nanming District Court in Guiyang to ten years’ imprisonment with a 50,000-yuan fine.
According to the investigation record published November 26, 2021 by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), Zhang, then 52, worked at the Pingba “170” factory. On April 21, 2019, about 30 police from the Gui’an New Area entered his home, took him away, and seized 80,000 yuan in cash. He was held first at the Pingba District Detention Center and later at the Anshun City No. 2 Detention Center.
WOIPFG records that the Nanming District Court of Guiyang tried Zhang on February 25, 2021, and on October 25, 2021 sentenced him to ten years’ imprisonment and fined him 50,000 yuan. The record states that Zhang had previously been subjected to three years of re-education through labor at the Guizhou Zhongba camp, where he endured torture. (These details are WOIPFG’s reported findings, dated November 26, 2021.)
The August 31, 2026 monthly report of the Rights Defense Network (维权网) lists Zhang among political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in custody, in its group of 44 people recorded as sentenced to ten years. The report classifies its entries as political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in custody — a dated source claim, not an independently verified finding.
No sentence end date, release record, or current-status information beyond the August 31, 2026 listing has been publicly documented. The sentence length and detention dates above are the only published figures; nothing further about his present situation is asserted here.
