This archive collects the media record of the case of Zhao Fei (赵飞), 63, a Falun Gong practitioner and former teacher from Shigezhuang Town, Wuqing District, Tianjin. Detained on October 2, 2024 by Shigezhuang police-station officers and held at the Wuqing Detention Center, she was tried by the Wuqing District Court on February 17, 2025 and sentenced to five years in prison; she filed an appeal. She had previously been sentenced to five and a half years for her Falun Gong practice about seventeen years earlier. The Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 report (August 31, 2026) lists her in its five-year-sentence band, confirming she remains in custody serving her term. Her case is documented by Minghui Weekly and the Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 roster in both Chinese and English editions.

Source provenance

Minghui Weekly (明慧周刊) is the weekly digest of Minghui.org, the established practitioner-run Chinese-language outlet documenting Falun Gong cases. Its Issue 1221 (April 4, 2025) “Recent persecution cases of practitioners in mainland China” column is the sole narrative source on Ms. Zhao’s detention, trial, and sentence; case-level facts from it are presented here as reported.

The Rights Defense Network (维权网) monthly report is a systematic roster published monthly; Issue 131 (August 31, 2026) lists reported current-custody political prisoners and prisoners of conscience. Its five-year-sentence band carries 赵飞, confirming the sentence and the in-custody classification as of that date.

Evidentiary limitations

No court judgment text, appeal outcome, or prison placement has been published. No official Chinese court or state-media account of the case has been located. The March 2000 torture account is reported solely by Minghui Weekly. A different, male Zhao Fei (a former Tianjin municipal political-legal/police official) appears in a 2017 World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong notice and is not this person.
