Zhao Wenjing (赵文静) — Media Profile & Archive
This archive preserves the source record behind the Zhao Wenjing 赵文静 profile: the reporting on the May 2016 church demolition in Shangqiu, the June 2016 formal arrests, and the August 2026 roster listing placing her in the Henan detained-without-trial group, with provenance and limitations noted. Sources are graded; allegations remain attributed rather than stated as fact.

(Opened and read in full: https://www.gospelherald.com/news/china-arrests-five-pastors-protesting-demolition-church-blocks-re-construction). Reports, via the monitoring organization China Aid: the May 5, 2016 demolition of the under-construction Shuangmiao Christian Church in Shangqiu, Henan by roughly 300 police officers and city inspectors; the “illegal structure” designation and the disputed 4,000-yuan annual “road usage fee”; about 40 worshippers detained, those resisting beaten; phones, laptops, jewelry, and cash confiscated; offering boxes smashed. Names Zhao Wenjing among the five church leaders formally arrested after a month-long detention (with Huang Xiangju, Guo Chungai, Lü Yuexia, and Zhang Di). Source grade: established international Christian media; underlying reporting attributed to China Aid; strongest source for the 2016 events.

Corroborates, via China Aid: the demolition in Shangqiu, Henan; the ~300 officers and ~40 arrests; the confiscations; the “illegal structure” and 4,000-yuan fee justifications; names Zhang Di and Lü Yuexia among the detained. Source grade: established international Christian media; corroboration for the case events, not the primary identification source.
维权网 — August 2026 monthly report, Issue 131 (August 31, 2026)
维权网《中国大陆在押政治犯、良心犯月度报告(2026年8月31日)第131期(共1638人), mirrored in English and Chinese. Lists 赵文静 / “Zhao Wenjing” in the Henan detained-without-trial (羁押未判) regional group, in position 1 of 18, with all 18 names aligning position-for-position between the Chinese and English editions. The 2016 co-arrestees 郭春该, 吕月霞, and 张迪 appear together with 赵文静 in the 2026 Henan group. The report supplies no biographical detail beyond the custody classification; it is the source for her listing as detained without trial as of August 2026. Source grade: monitoring organization; roster fact and Chinese-character identification basis.
Source conflicts and limitations
The evidence base is one monitored 2016 event report (China Aid via two outlets), the 2026 roster listing in both editions, and a decade-long reporting gap between them — bounded searches returned no indexed reporting on Zhao Wenjing between June 2016 and August 2026. No detention notice, charge sheet, court record, or family account was located. The Chinese characters 赵文静 are positionally identified from the roster’s own Chinese edition; the 2016 reporting gives no Chinese characters. The 2016 co-arrestee “Huang Xiangju” is not the 2026 group member 黄金桔 / Huang Jinyu — different given-name characters, different people. The formal-arrest charges were not stated in the sources. The official justifications for the 2016 demolition are recorded only as reported by China Aid and stay attributed. No contradictory account of this case was found. No consular dimension was established.
