Source records

1. CHRD Prisoners of Conscience database — individual record

The Chinese Human Rights Defenders Prisoners of Conscience database holds one individual record for 张训菊 (“ZHANG XUN JU”): female, born 1961, from Chengdu, Sichuan; Falun Gong practitioner since 1999; taken by Chengdu police on May 12, 2021; tried and sentenced to 10 years by the Xindu District Court on June 28, 2022, sentence ending May 11, 2031; charge and detention location recorded as unknown. The record cites a Minghui report and a Minghui victim-library page. A full-database search returned exactly one record for this name.

Record entry: September 7, 2022. Retrieved by direct database query, October 10, 2026. Access: https://tenchu.org/pocd/public/searchpage (database search interface; query “张训菊”).

2. Minghui.org victim-library page — Zhang Xunju

Minghui’s victim library maintains a dossier for Zhang Xunju (61 years old, female, Chengdu Falun Gong practitioner) documenting the May 12, 2021 multi-station raid, the year-plus of pre-trial detention of six co-detainees, and the June 28, 2022 sentencing — 10 years for Zhang Xunju, 7 for Li Yun, 5 for Liu Guohua, 3 for Huang Huaizhou. The dossier lists the police units and personnel involved as reported by Minghui.

3. Minghui.org report — sentencing of six Chengdu practitioners (August 14, 2022)

A Minghui report on the June 28, 2022 sentencing documents the arrest and trial of the same six people and gives background on Zhang Xunju’s earlier harassment and detention history (2000–2001). Note on a discrepancy: this August 14, 2022 report states a four-year sentence for Zhang Xunju, while the victim-library dossier (updated December 2022) and the CHRD record both state ten years; the August 2026 rights-defense roster likewise places her in the 10-year-sentence group.

4. Rights Defense Network (维权网) Issue 131 — monthly roster (August 31, 2026)

The report lists 张训菊 in the “sentenced to 10 years, 44 people” group and in its full-name index; the report classifies its roster entries as political prisoners currently in custody. This is the in-custody status evidence for the profile.

Verification and limits

  • Identity: the person in the Minghui records and the CHRD record is the same person named in the roster — matching name (Chinese and English), 10-year sentence, city (Chengdu), and the arrest/sentencing dates.
  • Sentence length: the later records and the roster agree on ten years; one early report said four years. The archive presents both with their dates.
  • The charge, the detention facility, and the verdict text are not documented in any source found.
  • Claims about the conduct of the police, the trial, and her earlier history are reported as the cited sources describe them.
