Zhang Zhenhua (张珍华) — Political Prisoner Profile

Identification

Zhang Zhenhua (张珍华) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Sichuan Province, China. According to the Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) database of prisoners of conscience in mainland China, she was detained on July 10, 2019, and sentenced on December 28, 2020, by the Chengdu Jinniu District Court to eight years in prison with an 8,000-yuan fine; the specific charge was not stated. Detention and sentencing

On the afternoon of July 10, 2019, Zhang Zhenhua was visiting the home of a friend, Mao Kun, in Chengdu, together with fellow practitioners Du Rong (杜荣) and Chen Shigui (陈世贵), when state-security police of the Jinniu District branch of the Chengdu public security bureau and officers of the Chadianzi police station took them into custody. On December 28, 2020, the Chengdu Jinniu District Court tried Zhang Zhenhua together with Mao Kun, Du Rong, and Chen Shigui, sentencing Zhang Zhenhua to eight years in prison with an 8,000-yuan fine. All four defendants appealed. In early July 2021, the families received the Chengdu Intermediate Court’s judgment upholding the sentences of Zhang Zhenhua, Du Rong, and Chen Shigui without a new hearing; Mao Kun had died in custody in April 2021.

The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly report on political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in mainland China, Issue 131 (August 31, 2026), lists Zhang Zhenhua among the people sentenced to eight years who remained in custody.
