Su Yanxia (苏艳霞), a Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun in Jilin Province, was seized at home in July 2024 and sentenced to three and a half years in prison in early 2025. Born in 1962, Su lived in Changchun, where she began practicing Falun Gong in February 1998, according to accounts compiled by the prisoner-monitoring database of Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) and by the Falun Gong–affiliated outlet Minghui.
On the evening of July 17, 2024, officers of the Chengxi police station under the Luyuan Branch of the Changchun public-security bureau entered Su’s home, seized her, and searched the premises, the reports say. A fellow practitioner, Liu Yajie, was also seized that evening. Su was subjected to criminal detention and, following approval of the arrest, indictment. In August 2024 the case was submitted to the Chaoyang District Procuratorate in Changchun; in December 2024 it moved to the Chaoyang District Court. In late January 2025, word emerged that the court had sentenced her to three years and six months. No formal charge has been reported, and her place of detention has not been made public.
The sentence term reportedly runs to January 16, 2028. A prisoner roster compiled by the Chinese rights-defense website 维权网 (Rights Defense Network) in its Issue 131 monthly report dated August 31, 2026 lists 苏艳霞 among prisoners serving fixed-term sentences, in the group classified as sentenced to three years and six months. The roster’s listing is dated; no court judgment has been made public, and nothing in the available sources establishes her whereabouts or condition since the sentencing report.
Identity note: She is not 李艳霞 (Li Yanxia), 李延霞 or 李燕霞 (Li Yanxiang), 张艳霞 (Zhang Yanxia), 吴艳霞 (Wu Yanxia), 苏宏 (Su Hong), or 苏英 (Su Ying) — all different people whose names are similar.
