Case profile: Sun Deguo

Case timeline (as reported by Minghui.org).
- September 2020 — Sun Deguo is arrested while distributing Falun Gong fliers. He is held in the Datong District Detention Center and transferred to the Lindian County Detention Center on September 28, 2020, where he is detained for fifteen days.
- January 8, 2022 — Sun Deguo and Dai Zhidong, both Daqing residents, are arrested after distributing a Falun Gong pamphlet at a gas station in Lindian County. Wei Fang, the head of the Lindian County Domestic Security Office, searches Sun’s home without a warrant. His Falun Gong books, debit cards, computers, and work gloves are taken, and more than 20,000 yuan in cash goes missing; Wei later claims only 10,000 yuan was confiscated. Sun’s two roommates — Sun Wenzhong and Zhang Liguo — are arrested the same day. All four are released on bail after each posts a 10,000-yuan bond.
- February 11, 2022 — Dai Zhidong dies, thirty-five days after the arrest, at age 60.
- August 2022 — Sun Wenzhong, one of the roommates, is sentenced to three and a half years by the Ranghulu District Court. No sentence against Sun Deguo is documented.

Related records. Dai Zhidong (co-arrestee, died February 11, 2022, age 60), Sun Wenzhong (roommate, sentenced to 3.5 years in August 2022 — a different person from Sun Deguo), and Zhang Liguo (roommate) are separate individuals; do not merge with Sun Deguo. Despite the shared surname, Sun Wenzhong and Sun Deguo are distinct persons — Sun Wenzhong received the prison sentence; Sun Deguo was released on bail.
