Chen Qing (陈青) — Media Profile & Archive

Media Profile & Archive — Chen Qing (陈青). This archive preserves the source chronology, identity analysis, and evidentiary limits of the reporting behind his Person Profile. It supports Chen Qing (陈青).

Person profile

Chen Qing (陈青) — 60s, widower living alone; retired worker of the Shaanxi Hard Alloy Tool Factory; Falun Gong practitioner from Mian County, Hanzhong, Shaanxi; repeatedly detained since 2002; seized July 2024; sentenced to 3 years 6 months on undisclosed charges; secretly transferred to Weinan Prison end of 2025. Profile covers the decades of prior detentions, the 2024 disappearance and sentencing, the identity equation behind the Issue 131 roster listing, and the source-attribution boundary on the wrongful-conviction claim.

Identity analysis

The roster’s English edition lists “Chen Qing” positionally between “Chen Qiang” and “Chen Renlin”; the Chinese edition lists 陈青 between 陈强 and 陈仁林 — a positional match. The tenchu prisoner database record for 陈青 and the Minghui report of July 10, 2026 describe the same man: from Mian County, Hanzhong, Shaanxi; a retired worker of the Shaanxi Hard Alloy Tool Factory; a Falun Gong practitioner; arrested in July 2024 by Mian County police; sentenced to 3 years 6 months; transferred to Weinan Prison at the end of 2025. Anchors converging — Chinese name 陈青, identical 3.5-year term, in custody, Shaanxi — make this the same person with high confidence, but the equation is graded probable, not certain, because the Issue 131 roster supplies no region, dates, or background for its sentenced groups. The alternate character form 陈清 appears in the Minghui article (陈青,又作陈清); no portrait was located.

Source chronology

  • Early 2000s. Chen begins a long history of detentions for his Falun Gong practice. (Minghui, 2026-07-10.)
  • Early 2002. Sent to labor re-education (劳教), duration unspecified. During the term, his wife — left alone to raise their son — dies from exhaustion and pressure. (Minghui.)
  • 2013-09-26. Questioned by police; taken away the next day by Hanzhong public security. In December 2013 he is held at the Mian County detention center, then transferred to the Puzhen Zaojiaoshu brainwashing facility (铺镇皂角树洗脑班); money is extorted from him before his release. (Minghui.)
  • 2017-03-16. With fellow practitioner Zhao Xiulan, distributing Falun Gong materials in Tonggousi Township, Mian County; seized by Tonggousi police and held 10 days at the Mian County detention center. (Minghui.)
  • 2023-05-18. Mian County political-legal committee staff escort him away from home, telling him he may not stay in Xi’an because “a state leader is coming.” (Minghui.)
  • 2023-08-03. Mian County state-security police and Wuhou police station officers enter his home, seize him, and impose 13 days of administrative detention. (Minghui.)
  • 2023-12-02 (approx). Three Chengxi police-station officers visit to harass him and press him to sign; he refuses. (Minghui.)
  • 2024-07. Chen suddenly disappears. Two months later, family and friends learn that Mian County police seized him. The police, procuratorate, and court handle his case with no public disclosure. (Minghui.)
  • 2025 (end). Secretly transferred to Weinan Prison (渭南监狱), Shaanxi — a fact only learned later. (Minghui; tenchu.)
  • 2026-07-10. Minghui publishes “从失踪到秘密收监:陕西勉县陈青被非法判刑”: Chen has been sentenced to 3 years 6 months, the charge unspecified, with the term reported to run to December 2027. English version published July 16, 2026. (Read in full 2026-09-24.)
  • 2026-08-21. tenchu 中国大陆良心犯数据库 record entered for 陈青 / Chen Qing: male; arrested 2024.7; charge unknown; 3 years 6 months; Weinan Prison; release 2028.1. Cites the Minghui article.
  • 2026-08-31. Rights Defense Network / 维权网, Issue 131 monthly report (Chinese and English editions). Lists 陈青 / “Chen Qing” in the “判刑3年6个月,126人” (sentenced to 3 years 6 months, 126 people) group of reported current-custody cases — consistent with this case’s term.

Source grading

  • Issue 131 report (Chinese + English editions) — the roster source; primary for the roster equation and Chinese-character resolution. High for what it lists; carries no charge, region, or dates for the sentenced groups.
  • Minghui (明慧网), July 10, 2026 — the only detailed case source; read in full. Medium for case facts; it is the Falun Gong movement’s own news outlet, and its “非法判刑 / 枉判” (illegal/wrongful sentencing) framing is carried with attribution, not asserted as this site’s finding.
  • CHRD / tenchu 中国大陆良心犯数据库 — structured record (arrest 2024.7; charge unknown; 3 years 6 months; Weinan Prison; release 2028.1). Medium; its bio is an abridged copy of the Minghui article, so it is not independent corroboration.

Conflicts and caveats

  • Identity equation graded PROBABLE. The roster supplies only the name and the 3.5-year sentence for its entry; the convergence of name 陈青 + identical 3.5-year term + in custody + Shaanxi supports the equation, but no roster-supplied anchor beyond name and sentence exists.
  • Release-date discrepancy (minor). Minghui: term to December 2027. tenchu: release 2028.1. The two differ by about a month; both are preserved and neither is asserted over the other.
  • Charge and trial proceedings undisclosed. Minghui states the exact charge and trial process are unknown; the tenchu record lists the charge as Unknown. No charge is stated here.
  • Source standpoint. Minghui is a Falun Gong-affiliated outlet. Its factual reporting is the only available case record; its normative framing (非法判刑 / 枉判 / 迫害) is attributed to it.

Evidentiary limits

No court judgment, police record, or non-Minghui reporting was independently located; case facts rest on the Minghui report and the tenchu record (one evidence lineage — the tenchu bio is an abridged copy of Minghui). No evidence of a sentence reduction or early release was located as of September 24, 2026; the roster (August 31, 2026) still reports him in custody.
