Media Profile & Archive — Li Fengying (李凤英). This archive preserves the reported media record for the case of Li Fengying (李凤英) of Wulian County, Shandong Province: her October 2022 arrest with four fellow practitioners, the May 2023 sentencing, her hospitalization shortly after entering Shandong Province Women’s Prison, and her death in December 2024. All substantive reporting located to date comes from a single outlet, Minghui.org, a Falun Gong-affiliated publication. No independent outlet or official account of this case has been found.
Case chronology (as reported)
- October 10, 2022 — arrest. Li and Zheng Yunmei are arrested after being reported by a fruit vendor for talking about Falun Gong; homes ransacked; laptops, printers, and Falun Gong materials confiscated. Three more practitioners — Wang Hongwu, Wang Shihua, and Yang Mingzhen — are arrested later the same day. All five are held at the Rizhao City Detention Center.
- April 28 and May 8, 2023 — trial. The Wulian County Court holds joint hearings. Two lawyers enter not-guilty pleas, challenging the lack of search warrants, unverified confiscated items, and intimidation during interrogation.
- May 15, 2023 — sentencing. Li is sentenced to eight years with a 20,000-yuan fine, the heaviest term of the five.
- August 8, 2023 — prison transfer. Li is sent to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison in Jinan despite frail health. Days later she is hospitalized at the Qilu Hospital of Shandong University with lymphoma and uterine cancer.
- August 23, 2024 — parole release. Released in critical condition; nine guards escort her home, according to the report.
- December 31, 2024 — death. Dies around 4 a.m., four months after release.

Evidentiary limits
All four items derive from one reporting organization; items 3 and 4’s death account is a single evidentiary lineage. No court judgment, official statement, or second independent outlet located. The prisoner-tracking roster that names “Li Fengying” (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) classifies the name as in-custody — a name-level classification that appears stale relative to the December 2024 death report; no update has been published resolving the discrepancy.
