Source provenance and grades

  • Minghui.org (all case facts): practitioner-run outlet; the 2022–2023 case is reported in two separate articles (2024-01-14 main report, 2025-04-11 corroboration) with consistent anchors (arrest date, Jiulongpo, 4.5 years). “Secretly sentenced” is the outlet’s characterization; details the outlet itself says “aren’t clear.”
  • tenchu.org Prisoners of Conscience Database (Chinese-language row 陈昌兰 ↔ “Chen Changlan”): in-prison listing with a listed release date; record updated 2024-02-28. The release date is the database’s listed value, not independently confirmed; it is arithmetically consistent with a 4.5-year term counted from the September 2022 arrest.
  • Issue 131 roster (维权网), 2026-08-31: provides the name “Chen Changlan” in the current-custody A–Z list only.

Conflicts, caveats, and evidentiary limits

  • The 2020-12-12 report says she “has been sentenced to forced labor and two jail terms over the last ten years.” The documented trail shows one forced-labor term (2004–2006) and one confirmed prison term (2010, 3.5 years) before 2020. The count may reflect loose phrasing or an undocumented term; it is not independently reconciled — treated as a source claim, not a verified fact.
  • No criminal charge or code article is stated in any source; none appears in this archive.
  • The exact sentencing date (~September 2023) and the “secret” characterization rest on the family’s account as reported by Minghui.
  • Ages (“around 69,” “around 70,” “65 years old,” “in her fifties”) are outlet estimates from different years, consistent with a single aging person; not exact dates of birth.
  • No conflicting identity evidence was found, but 陈国兰 (Chen Guolan) of Kaili, Guizhou is a different person — never merged with this case.
