Chen Cuizhu (陈翠珠) — Media Profile & Archive

Media Profile & Archive — Chen Cuizhu (陈翠珠). This archive preserves the source chronology, provenance, and evidentiary limits of the reporting behind her Person Profile. It supports Chen Cuizhu (陈翠珠).

Person profile

Chen Cuizhu (陈翠珠) — female Falun Gong practitioner from Leizhou City, Zhanjiang, Guangdong. Profile covers: the September 8, 2022 group seizure of fifteen practitioners and the ransacking of her home; interrogation at the Minzhu police station and detention at the Zhanjiang City Detention Center; prosecution through the Chikan District Procuratorate to the Chikan District Court; the reported grave illness and refused medical parole; and the May 4, 2023 trial. No sentence has been publicly reported.

Source chronology

  • September 8, 2022 (evening) — WOIPFG notice (June 18, 2023). Chen Cuizhu and fourteen other Falun Gong practitioners were seized at their homes by the Chikan District Public Security Bureau’s domestic-security brigade together with the Zhonghua, Minzhu, Cunjin, and Nanqiao police stations. Her home was ransacked; 30,000 yuan in cash, a computer, a printer, and other personal property were seized.
  • September 2022 onward — WOIPFG notice. Chen was interrogated at the Minzhu police station, then moved to the Zhanjiang City Detention Center. Her case was sent to the Chikan District Procuratorate and prosecuted in the Chikan District Court.
  • During detention — WOIPFG notice. Chen developed a grave illness in custody — the notice states cancer spread through her body and her life was in danger. Family requests for medical parole were refused; the notice attributes the refusal to her not having “transformed” and not having pleaded guilty. No independent corroboration.
  • May 4, 2023 — WOIPFG notice. Chen was tried at the Chikan District Court, described as extremely emaciated and wearing linked handcuffs and foot shackles that forced her body into an extreme bend (head nearly touching feet) for the entire trial. The notice names the involved institutions and officials (Zhanjiang and Chikan political-legal committee, PSB, procuratorate, court, and detention-center personnel). No verdict was reported.
  • June 18, 2023 — WOIPFG, “追查广东省湛江市迫害法轮功学员陈翠珠的责任人的通告.” The organization opened a formal investigation case on the officials and units involved. The notice’s legal and moral characterizations (“genocide,” “crimes against humanity”) are its own advocacy framing and are not adopted in the Person body.
  • August 31, 2026 — Rights Defense Network / 维权网, Issue 131 monthly report (English edition). Lists “Chen Cuizhu” among reported in-custody cases. Sentence-group placement inside the report was not confirmed from the report itself (the report site is client-rendered).

Source grading

  • WOIPFG investigation notice (June 18, 2023) — Falun Gong-affiliated investigative organization; the only source with sustained case detail (seizure, detention, illness, trial). Medium for dated events; the illness severity, the medical-parole refusal rationale, and the trial-posture account are the notice’s claims only, with no independent corroboration; its legal/moral characterizations are not adopted.
  • Issue 131 report (English edition) — the roster source; primary for the roster equation. High for the name listing and the August 31, 2026 in-custody classification; provides no case detail beyond the listing.

Conflicts and caveats

  • No verdict or sentence from the May 4, 2023 trial has been located. The Person body reports the trial but asserts no outcome.
  • The WOIPFG notice’s claims about Chen’s medical condition, the medical-parole refusal, and the trial posture have no independent corroboration; they are reported as source claims.
  • Sentence-group placement within the Issue 131 report could not be confirmed from the report itself (client-rendered site; fetch failed). This archive records only that she appears in the report’s in-custody roster.
  • The candidate is distinct from every other Chen entry in the Issue 131 roster and must not be merged with any of them.

Evidentiary limits

No court judgment, police record, medical record, or official Chinese government statement was located. The detailed case record is a single Falun Gong-affiliated investigative notice (June 2023); the roster listing is the only other dated source. The trial outcome, any sentence, her place of detention after trial, and her present condition are all undocumented.
