Fu Jian (付健), a Falun Gong practitioner in his late forties from Dongying City in Shandong Province, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison on May 26, 2025. He was tried with Du Jianxin (杜建新) and Wang Fan (王凡); all three appealed, and the Dongying City Intermediate Court reportedly rejected the appeals.
Fu, a veteran who worked at the Juneng Thermal Power Plant in Shouguang City, was arrested on November 29, 2023 during a police sweep of local practitioners. Minghui.org, citing an insider, reported that police had monitored practitioners for about a month beforehand, including using vehicle tracking devices and agents to follow and photograph them. Fu was taken to the Dongying City Detention Center.
The Dongying District Court held four hearings—July 3, October 16, and October 21, 2024, and May 19, 2025—with lawyers entering not-guilty pleas. Minghui reports that the prosecution relied heavily on interrogation records of another practitioner, Liu Chunrong, which the defense challenged as coerced. Minghui also reports that Fu had previously been arrested in April 2013 and held at a brainwashing center; these earlier allegations remain source-attributed.
In an update dated January 4, 2026, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong reported that after October 20, 2025, Fu was transferred to Shandong Prison. No reporting after that update has been found; his present status is therefore unconfirmed beyond the dated report.
