Hu Hui (胡辉)

Hu Hui (胡辉) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xingtai City, Hebei Province, reported to be serving a four-year sentence in mainland China.

Born in 1967, Hu lives in the Xindu District of Xingtai, according to records compiled by the Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) Prisoners of Conscience database. The Minghui library victim archive states that she began practicing Falun Gong in early 1998 and that she was repeatedly detained and held in labor camps after July 1999.

Her first recent case, as documented by the CHRD database and the Minghui archive: on August 28, 2020, Hu was detained at a fellow practitioner’s home while reading the book Zhuan Falun, by national-security police of the Xindu district branch of the Xingtai Public Security Bureau; she was held at the Xingtai No. 1 detention center. She was tried by the Xiangdu District Court of Xingtai on August 17, 2021, and on September 10, 2021, the court sentenced her to two years in prison with a 3,000-yuan fine. She served the sentence at the Hebei Women’s Prison and was released on September 2, 2022.

Her second case: on July 17, 2023, Hu was detained again at her mother-in-law’s home in Nangong by the political-security division of the Nangong Public Security Bureau; her homes in Nangong and Xingtai were searched, and she was again held at the Xingtai No. 1 detention center. In October 2024, the Ningjin County Court sentenced her to four years; her appeal was upheld by the Xingtai Intermediate Court in November 2024. On February 19, 2025, she was transferred to the Hebei Women’s Prison. The formal charges and further details of her current detention are not documented in the available sources.

An August 31, 2026 monthly report by the monitoring organization 维权网 (the Chinese-language network of Chinese Human Rights Defenders) lists Hu Hui among in-custody political and conscience prisoners sentenced to four years, consistent with the reported sentence above.

Not to be confused with 胡晓云 (Hu Xiaoyun) — a different person sentenced in a different case (Hengyang, Hunan) — nor with Ding Huimin (丁慧敏), Chi Huitian, or any other similarly named person.
