Case chronology
- December 2005 — arrest and forced labor. Li and five other practitioners drove to the outskirts of Jiamusi City to distribute Falun Gong materials on the evening of December 11, 2005. They were stopped and arrested by officers of the Songjiang Village Police Station on their way back. Li was later given three years at the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp. After her case was twice returned for insufficient evidence, the Dongjingcheng Forestry Court sentenced her to five years on August 5, 2015. The Lin District Intermediate Court upheld the verdict on appeal. She entered the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on November 18, 2015, and was released on January 30, 2019.
