Li Zhenjin (李振金) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Heilongjiang Province in mainland China. Born in 1963, she is currently serving a four-year prison sentence for her religious belief.
Li began practicing Falun Gong in 1997 together with her husband, Yang Dexian (杨德贤). After the Chinese authorities began suppressing Falun Gong in July 1999, the couple was repeatedly targeted. Li was previously detained in a forced-labor camp for three years following an arrest in December 2005, and was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in 2015 by the Dongjingcheng Forestry Court after an arrest at her home in October 2014; she was released on January 30, 2019. Her husband died in September 2005, which Falun Gong reporting attributes to the persecution.
On June 19, 2024, Li was reported to police while distributing Falun Gong informational materials in a residential area of Dongjingcheng Town, Ning’an City. She was arrested by the Forestry Second Police Station and held at the Mudanjiang City Detention Center. She was subsequently detained, formally arrested, and prosecuted. The Hailin City Court sentenced her to four years’ imprisonment; the specific charge has not been publicly reported. Her appeal to the Mudanjiang City Intermediate Court was denied. Her sentence runs through June 18, 2028.
Current status
Imprisoned. She is serving a four-year sentence reported to end on June 18, 2028, with no reported release as of the most recent records (2025).
Note on records
One prisoner roster (Rights Defense Network, August 2026) groups her under a “4 years 2 months” sentence label; the detailed case records — the CHRD Prisoners of Conscience database and the Minghui case report — both give a four-year term ending June 18, 2028.
