Liao Yanqiong (廖燕琼)

Liao Yanqiong (廖燕琼), also reported as Liao Yuanqun (廖苑群), is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xingning City, Meizhou, Guangdong Province. She was reported sentenced to ten years in prison on December 20, 2024.

WOIPFG reports that Liao and her husband Li Zhuozhong were detained in Xingning in April 2024 and that their home was searched. Its account says Liao was held at the Meixian District Detention Center and that the case later moved through the Meixian District Procuratorate and Court.

WOIPFG reports court hearings on October 18 and November 12, 2024. It states that on December 20 the Meixian District Court sentenced Liao and her husband to ten years each; two co-defendants received five-year terms. The organization says all four appealed and that the Meizhou Intermediate Court upheld the verdicts.

Bitter Winter independently reported the same ten-year sentence and the April 19, 2024 detention. Its report uses both “Liao Yuanqun” and “Liao Yanqiong” for the same woman, corroborating the alias relationship. It also describes prior detention history, which remains source-attributed.

WOIPFG reported that Liao was transferred to Guangdong Women’s Prison in May 2025. Rights Defense Network Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026, lists 廖燕琼 in its ten-year-sentence group.

Evidence limits: no court judgment or official statement was located. The prison-transfer detail is from WOIPFG’s updated notice. Advocacy characterizations are not adopted as independent factual conclusions.
