1999 — Begins practicing Falun Gong. Liu Furui, born 1962, a farmer of Zhancaitun Village, Changcun Town, Huixian City, takes up the practice.
December 19, 2019 — First detention. Officers of the Huixian domestic-security unit and the Mengzhuang Town police station seize Liu Furui and fellow practitioner Liu Fenglian at their homes in connection with the distribution of Falun Gong informational materials; books and personal items are confiscated. Both are held at the Huixian Detention Center. Liu Furui is later released.
September 2024 — Second detention. Liu Furui is detained again; placed under criminal detention, then formally arrested and indicted.
November 26, 2024 — Trial. The Huixian City Court tries Liu Furui together with fellow Huixian practitioner Yan Yanfang.
End of November 2024 — Sentencing. Liu Furui is sentenced to three years. The charge and the place of custody are not disclosed in the available reporting. Her term runs through September 2027.
