Liu Rongpin (刘荣品)
Liu Rongpin (刘荣品) is a resident of Suihua City in Heilongjiang Province, China, and a Falun Gong practitioner. In 2025 he was sentenced to four years in prison, the second time he has been handed a custodial sentence in connection with his practice of Falun Gong.
Liu had previously been detained in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. In April 2017 he was taken into custody while distributing Falun Gong materials in a residential area; after detention in the Suzhou No. 2 Detention Center, the Wujiang District Court sentenced him to three and a half years in prison. He was released from Suzhou Prison on July 13, 2021, and returned to his home.
On the evening of September 11, 2024, police in Suihua entered Liu’s home by forcing the door, detained him, and searched the residence, as part of a wider round of visits and searches targeting local Falun Gong practitioners that month. He was held in criminal detention, formally arrested, and indicted.
On March 28, 2025, the Hailun City Court tried Liu’s case; the court announced a sentence of four years in prison and a fine of 10,000 yuan on the same day. The specific criminal charge used was not stated in the available reports, nor was the facility where he is held. Liu appealed to the Suihua City Intermediate Court, which upheld the sentence. His term is recorded as ending on September 10, 2028.
As of the latest dated evidence available (May 2025 case report; prisoner-database record entered July 2025), Liu Rongpin is serving this sentence. The charge under which he was convicted and the facility where he is serving the sentence remain unstated in the available reporting and are not inferred here.
(Identity note: this Liu Rongpin (刘荣品) is distinct from 刘蓉培 of Zhuzhou, a different name written with different characters, which was excluded as a non-match in the identity check.)
