Liu Shuguang / 刘曙光 — Media Profile & Archive
This archive preserves the source record used for the canonical Liu Shuguang profile and identifies where the surviving evidence remains incomplete.
Political-prisoner record
HRIC/HRW-Asia Hunan political-prisoner documentation. The surviving Hunan roster identifies Liu Shuguang as a student at a Changsha electric-power institution and reports a four-year prison term for counterrevolutionary propaganda and incitement.
The institution name is not stable across the source lineage: it appears as Changsha Electric Power College and as Changsha Water Conservancy and Electric Power Normal College. The archive therefore preserves the ambiguity rather than selecting one rendering as certain.
Historical reconstruction
Later Hunan June Fourth histories describe protest-related writing, leafleting and slogan activity around the 1989 movement and continued campus political activity afterward. A later account places a police entry into the school on April 25, 1990, with arrests and questioning of students. These details derive from a secondary narrative lineage and should remain attributed.
A later synthesis identifies the sentencing court as the Changsha Intermediate People’s Court. No original judgment has been located, so the precise charge wording, court and sentence remain probable rather than court-document verified.
Open record gaps
No reliable birth year, prison placement, confirmed release record, post-release biography or present-status source has been located. No release date or current status is inferred from the nominal four-year sentence.
