Ms. Su Jinling (苏锦玲) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, in her seventies. She was one of ten Zhengzhou practitioners arrested between late 2021 and early 2022 and sentenced together in 2023.
Ms. Su was arrested at home in November 2021 by the Jinshui District Police Department. According to the case reporting, police located her through surveillance video showing she had met with another practitioner, Ms. Zhao Shuniu, and ransacked her home. She had previously served two years of forced labor between 2001 and 2003.
The Xinzheng Court heard the ten practitioners’ cases on July 19, 2023, without permitting family members to attend. On September 27, 2023, the court sentenced Ms. Su to eight years in prison and fined her 80,000 yuan — among the heaviest sentences in the group, matching that of Ms. Zhao.
In November 2024, Ms. Su was granted medical parole, according to the Dui Hua Foundation. Her eight-year sentence was otherwise set to expire in November 2029. No further confirmed information about her current condition or whereabouts has been published.
Falun Gong is a spiritual practice suppressed by the Chinese authorities since 1999. Sentences in such cases are typically imposed under Article 300 of the PRC Criminal Law, though no court document for Ms. Su’s case has been made public.
