Wang Jucai (王聚才)

Profile

Wang Jucai (王聚才) is a consumer-rights activist from Nanyang, Henan Province. Human-rights monitoring sources report that he was arrested in October 2018 with Chen Qiang, Wang Qing and Han Meng and later convicted on an extortion charge in a case connected to their consumer-rights and anti-counterfeiting activities.

Consumer-rights activity

Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) and Chinese Political Prisoner Concern (CPPC) describe Wang as part of a group of Nanyang activists who filed complaints and sought compensation over allegedly counterfeit or improperly marketed goods. CPPC reports that in 2016 the four men complained to market regulators about a local café they believed was operating improperly.

Arrest and conviction

CHRD and CPPC report that Wolong District police detained Wang and the three other men on October 19, 2018 on suspicion of extortion (敲诈勒索). They report that the Wolong District Court tried the group on September 6, 2019. The monitoring organizations characterize the prosecution as retaliation for the men’s consumer-rights activism; that interpretation is attributed to those organizations rather than adopted here as an independent finding.

Sentence and status

The Rights Defense Network’s August 31, 2026 Issue 131 report lists 王聚才 in its group of prisoners reported as serving eight-year sentences. The prepared evidence does not establish Wang Jucai’s prison facility, term-end date, or whether he personally appealed. Those details are therefore not inferred from the records of his co-defendants.

Evidence limits

No primary court judgment specific to Wang Jucai was located in the prepared research. The available record consists principally of CHRD reporting, CPPC’s case documentation for the shared prosecution, and the Rights Defense Network roster.
