- 1998–2003 — earlier detentions. Wang Xiulian began practicing Falun Gong in 1998. The Minghui case library records: detention for one month in June 2000 after traveling to Beijing to petition; detention for 13 days in early 2001; detention for 38 days beginning June 20, 2003; and a three-year prison sentence in July 2003, followed by repeated harassment by local police and the 610 Office. - 2023 — detention and sentencing. Wang Xiulian was detained by Jiajiang county police for distributing Falun Gong materials to the public. She was released on bail pending trial, then indicted and tried. A local court sentenced her to three years’ imprisonment; the charge was not identified in the records reviewed.
