Yang Mingzhen (杨明珍) — Media Profile & Archive
This archive preserves the reported media record for Yang Mingzhen (杨明珍): her October 2022 arrest in Shandong with four fellow practitioners, the joint trial and May 2023 sentencing, and earlier reported incidents involving a practitioner of the same name in Weifang’s Hanting District. All substantive reporting located to date comes from a single outlet, Minghui.org, a Falun Gong-affiliated publication. No independent outlet or official account of this case has been found.
Case chronology (as reported):
- October 10, 2022 — arrest. Yang is arrested in Wulian County along with Li Fengying, Wang Hongwu, Zheng Yunmei, and Wang Shihua. All five are interrogated and taken to the Rizhao City Detention Center; Yang is reported to be a Weifang native staying in Rizhao to avoid further harassment. She is formally placed under arrest in December 2022.
- April 28 and May 8, 2023 — joint hearings. The Wulian County Court hears the five cases. Two lawyers enter not-guilty pleas, challenging the lack of search warrants, unverified confiscated items, and intimidation during interrogation.
- May 15, 2023 — sentencing. Yang is sentenced to four years in prison with a 10,000-yuan fine. Named court figures include prosecutor Guan Suwei and judges Zheng Lei and Fan Jun.
- Earlier incidents (same-name, Hanting District): July 20, 1999 — a practitioner named Yang Mingzhen is listed among Hanting District practitioners abducted at the start of the Falun Gong suppression and held for over 11 days; November 29, 2008 — she is listed among five Hanting practitioners arrested (with Meng Deyi, Hao Ying, another person named Yang, and Chen Weiguang). The reporting does not explicitly connect these incidents to the 2022 defendant.
- Name-collision record (not merged): an “elderly Ms. Yang Mingzhen” was reported arrested in Lushuihe Town, Baishan City, Jilin Province, on October 19, 2006, and detained for one month. Different province; no evidence connects her to the Shandong cases.

Evidentiary limits: all items derive from one reporting organization. The April 2023 roundup’s fifth name (“Wang Jiangtao”) disagrees with the sentencing article (“Wang Hongwu”); the sentencing article is treated as canonical for the five defendants. The 1999/2008 identity linkage is probable but not explicit. No court judgment, official statement, or second independent outlet located. No report of her transfer to a prison after sentencing has been found; no prison is asserted.
