Source record (chronological)

April 7, 2025 — Minghui: “重庆市六旬妇女余树惠被非法判刑三年半”. Minghui (明慧网), a Falun Gong-affiliated news outlet, published a correspondent report from Chongqing detailing Yu’s case. The report states: Yu, in her sixties, was arrested at her home on the evening of January 23, 2024, by four plainclothes officers who did not identify themselves or present legal documents; she and her husband were taken to the Shiban Town police station, and her home was searched. She was detained at the Dadukou District Detention Center. On May 13, 2024, the Jiulongpo District Procuratorate indicted her (prosecutor Zhang Lin); the indictment was later amended. On December 27, 2024, the Jiulongpo District Court sentenced her to three years and six months. She appealed to the Chongqing Intermediate Court, which upheld the sentence in writing. Her family received a prison notice confirming she is held at the Chongqing Women’s Prison. The report gives her earlier history: began practicing Falun Gong in 1998; sentenced to three years in 2000 after a home raid led by Shiban Town police station chief He Ping; arrested on May 13, 2012, in Luohuang Town while distributing Shen Yun DVDs and sentenced to three years and six months; multiple detentions and a “brainwashing class” after July 1999. The report includes a letter from Yu’s son addressed to the second-instance judge. URL: minghui.org — opened and read in full; every cited anchor cross-matches the CHRD record. Provenance note: Minghui is affiliated with the Falun Gong community and characterizes the proceedings with terms such as “非法” (illegal). The factual claims of arrest, prosecution, and sentencing — dates, institutions, and sentence length — are recorded here as reported by Minghui. The charge of conviction was not reported in this article.

Evidentiary limitations

  • The full published source record for Yu Shuhui consists of the two items above; no independent (non-Falun Gong-affiliated) reporting of this case was located in web searches conducted October 9, 2026.
  • No court-published judgment for this case was found, and state media has not reported it.
  • The criminal charge of conviction is unknown; it must not be inferred or stated.
  • Details of the arrest, the family’s complaint about the prosecutor, and the earlier (2000/2012) cases rest on Minghui’s account alone and should be presented as reported-by-source.
  • The Chinese-character form 余树惠 is from the CHRD record; the Issue-131 roster carried only the English spelling “Yu Shuhui.” Minghui also renders her name as 余素会.
